Abstract

Martín Becerra is a professor at University of Quilmes and University of Buenos Aires, as well as a researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) in Argentina. In his academic career, he has devoted himself to the study of communication policies, and published several works on concentration and regulation of the media in Latin America. The relations between media and politics are central in his academic trajectory. Therefore, in this interview we explore two types of reflections with Becerra: on the one hand, based on his consolidated experience and the consequent expert view to apprehend problems in the relationship between democracy and the mass media, we question the conjunctural aspects of Latin American contexts ; on the other hand, restricting ourselves to that subject as a field of academic studies, we questioned the possible methodological limitations and the challenges in defining markers of analysis between different governments and historical periods.
