Abstract

The objective of this work is to present the concepts of political object/artifact, platform, medium, and infrastructure, from the perspective of media theories to contribute to a political-communicational reflection on deliberative spaces. With a theoretical and essayistic character, the intention is to dialogue with contemporary studies that turn to the public “thing” in a more radical sense, that is, to the res of the res publica: to the objects, (infra)structures, and materials that make possible the existence of a space of visibility described, cursively, as “public”. It hopes, therefore, to contribute to the outline of an investigative field capable of operating at the crossroads between media theories and deliberative democracy studies, whose relevance can be found in theoretically substantiating a shift in the interest of research from “what” is deliberate for the “how” one deliberates, that is, a passage from the discourse to the media of deliberation.
